Vote YES to Expand Bethel Schools

Bethel School District No. 403 School District Proposition #1 photo Pierce County is the fastest growing county in the United States, but our schools haven't been able to keep with growth. Bethel's student population has grown 1,800 students since the last new schools were opened in 2009, with another 3,000 students enrolling in the next decade.

The Bethel School District No. 403 is seeking to approve Proposition No. 1 to fund construction projects to help our schools grow. If approved, the proposition would fund the construction of a new high school to replace Bethel High, construct two new elementary schools; renovate and expand Cedarcrest Middle, Challenger High, Graham Kapowsin High, Evergreen Elementary, Naches Trail Elementary, and Elk Plain K-8, as well as make district-wide health, safety, security, and other improvements.

Even with the passage of this proposition, taxpayers are expected to see a tax savings of $384 per year for a $297,000 home compared to 2018. The District estimates a 2020 tax rate for this bond of $1.42 per $1,000 of assessed value. The state with match the $443 million bond with about $135 million to help complete the projects.
